I love bread - sadly. I say that because it's always been my nemisis in my quest for a healthy lifestyle (along with sweets, but I digress).
Here is something I usually make "on the fly" when having something Italian-ish. I never realized that there were already recipes out there like this until I went to post it on AllRecipes. I didn't post it there, but I am including it here since it goes with my theme of "easy" recipes.
Super Easy Cheesy Garlic Bread
8 hot dog buns
margarine or softened butter
granulated garlic
parsley flakes
shredded italian or mexican blend cheese
Preheat oven to 375.
Using a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan lined with a silpat or parchment paper, open hot dog buns and spread with a thin coating of margarine/butter. You can separate the tops/bottoms if you want to.
Lightly and evenly sprinkle with granulated garlic, then a minimal sprinkling of parsley.
Top with cheese, as desired (I tend to go heavy on the cheese).
Bake for 10-13 minutes until lightly browned and cheese is bubbly. Serve warm with your favorite Italian dish.
Variation:
Substitute spaghetti sauce for the margarine/butter, skip the garlic, add a bit of finely diced, cooked ham/turkey/chicken before topping with cheese and bake as directed. Great quickie lunch or accompiament to soup.
